An autumn mask-making ritual of gathering and release
NOVEMBER 8, 2026 ▪ 1:30 PM - 4:30 PM
Portland, OR
DEEP HARVEST is a 3-hour urban creative retreat exploring the Shadow through meditation, movement, ritual, and botanical mask-making.
As Autumn deepens and the leaves surrender to the Earth, the living world begins its ancient dance of returning, releasing, and becoming something new. This inevitable descent into winter invites us inward — to the places where memory, grief, and intuition take root.
What might we discover when we slow down to truly listen to what is changing within us?

Listen to what is stirring deep within...
Listen to what is ready to be shed...
Listen to what is hungry to be brought forth.
DEEP HARVEST is your invitation to LISTEN.
As the veil between worlds thins, we will gather to slow down, step outside the momentum of our everyday lives, and gently greet our Shadows.
We will approach the Shadow through a grounded, animist lens—not as something broken, but as a subterranean archive of wisdom, resilience, and insight.
Through guided meditation, breath, movement, and journaling, you will journey inward to encounter the harvest of your own inner Autumn—the magic buried within.
At the heart of our gathering, is an abundant botanical world: an autumn altar to nature’s beauty and the passage of time.
You will be invited to wander the textures of dried flowers, leaves, branches, and other gathered treasures and notice what stirs something in you and what you feel drawn to carry forward.
From this encounter, you will create a surreal botanical Shadow mask as a seasonal ritual of discernment and transformation.
We will close our time together with community dialogue, contemplation, and a simple grounding ceremony.

A warm coat or jacket and sturdy shoes to navigate some wet soil and slightly uneven terrain.
Journal and writing/drawing utensils
Layers you can move in comfortably, including warm socks
Water bottle & snacks
Anything else you may need to take care of yourself

Do I need art or movement experience to participate?
No. DEEP HARVEST welcomes individuals of all levels and abilities ages 16+.Is this event a form of group therapy or art therapy?
No. We are not trained therapists and are and consequently not qualified to lead that kind of work. Our goal as artists is to provide a structured container for creative expression and inquiry. This gathering is designed to give you a very personal experience. Much of the work is non-verbal or involves individual writing. While there some moments when we do come together as a group, you can share as little or as much as you wish.
What should I bring with me?
Please bring a journal, a water bottle, a writing utensil, and comfortable warm clothes you can move in. We provide all crafting tools, materials, and supplies. -
Please write to us directly if you have further questions or simply wish to connect.
MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Natalya Kolosowsky is a bilingual artist, facilitator, and teacher of creative processes and the founder of the Shadow Tender project.
She was born in Siberia but grew up in the Sonoran desert, which created a life-long interest in bridging worlds that normally remain invisible to each other and navigating realities polarized by a history of antagonism and fear.

Natalya is an award-winning artist, designer, and fabricator who has worked on projects for Disney, Cirque du Soleil, Universal Studios as well as many others.
Natalya’s teaching approach is informed by multiple things: the lived and ancestral wisdom of her own lineages (Eastern European, Jewish, and Evenk/Indigenous Siberian); a life-long obsession with fairytales; over three decades of experience in dance and creative expression; two decades of yoga practice; and formal training in visual arts and the psychology and neuroscience of trauma.
She holds a BS in Psychology and a BFA in Visual Communication from the University of Arizona, as well as a MFA in Theatre Arts from the University of Oregon. She is a student of herbalism under Marysia Miernowska and is currently becoming a certified Buteyko breathwork instructor via Patrick McKeown’s Buteyko Clinic International.Natalya is fluent in English and Russian, and offers 1:1 work, teaching, and group facilitation in both languages.

ABOUT SHADOW TENDER
Shadow Tender is a creative project and a school of thought that invites you to dance with your demons through mask-making and creative expression.
DEEP HARVEST is part of our special 10-year anniversary programming designed to celebrate a decade of shadow tending, creativity, and collaboration.

We believe that shadow work is a living process, a wild process, a dance - an unfolding of the self that has power to repair the very foundations of our beings. We believe that shadow work is a physical, social, creative act - stitch by stitch, gesture by gesture, story by story…embodied poetry carving a path to deeper connection through and beyond the self.
In a world that continually seeks to lead us further and further away from ourselves and each other, it is our greatest honor to continue to share this work with you.
You can read more about the story of Shadow Tender here.
“And autumn smiles at our springtime.”
